2010 ACB Elections

The time is quickly approaching that we elect new officers for 2010/2011. There has been some discussion as to who is going to fill the spots. I thought I would post some information about the election in hopes of getting some interest in further participation in the club. I have heard the old phrase " 10% of the people do 90% of the work" thrown around in passing and would like to see that perception change.

The club meeting being held on June 12th is when the nominations will take place and the meeting being held on August 9th is when the elections will take place. The meetings are at 7:00 at the Denny's on the Southwest corner of Scottsdale Rd. and the loop 202. There are 9 positions that need to be filled each year. The four main elected offices are:

President (currently Jerry Hotzwordt)
Secretary (currently Sam Queen)
Treasurer (currently Tom Gismondi)
Membership Coordindator (currently Randy Harral)

There are also 3 elected directors, (currently Roger Shawcroft, Rodger Williams, and Todd Zuercher),

There is also the Newsletter Editor (currently Dave Young) and the Stampede Chair (Mitch Ragsdale - 2010)

All of these gentlemen have done a great job this year, but it would be nice to have some of the other members take over in these positions as most of these officers have taken on these positions for multiple years. I encourage all of the members to try and take an active roll in the club and volunteer in any capacity they can.

This is a great club that I hope to see prosper in coming years. We have had a great year of good trail runs, and participants in the trail runs, as well as a very successful, and growing stampede. So try and make the summer meetings, volunteer to help out, suggest or lead a trail run and lets keep the club growing.

Roger Williams has invited Jack Hickman with the Arizona Off Highway Vehicle Coalition to attend out next club meeting. His organization is very active within the state, trying to keep our trails open and deal with other land issues that affect the use of our public lands. He is scheduled to attend our meeting on the 12th of July and give a presentation on his organization and how donations are used to keep our trails open. As a club we are going to determine whether contributing to this coalition is a good use of ACB funds.

Please post up the nomination as of the meeting, I was able to hear all the members that were nominated for which postions. I am interested in this club and would continue to give my support for the sport/recreation I enjoy. Thank you to all the members that held their posts this past year.
